One choice will send them home. Another will unleash carnage.

England, 1577. On their thirteenth birthday, twins William and Katherine’s world shatters when soldiers arrive at their father’s estate to arrest William for Treason. Forced into exile, he vanishes across the sea, his fate unknown.

Ten years later, the tall ship Maiden Bride prowls the Caribbean, commanded by the legendary Scarlett Buccaneer. First Mate, William Hope, harbours extraordinary gifts that have saved their crew time and time again. After a deadly clash at sea, William is swept overboard and cast adrift.

An enigmatic stranger, holding a powerful book that unlocks the secrets of love, opens his heart to William and warns him that the sister he barely remembers is in mortal danger. The curious companions are rescued by a fierce, female pirate crew led by the formidable Rosa Brizuela, and together, they must unlock the mystery of an ancient and malevolent curse.

With strange forces converging, and powerful enemies closing in, William and his allies must stand together on a voyage that could claim their lives – or set them free.

A tale of fierce loyalty, forbidden love, mystical magic and undying courage.

  • Couldn't put the book down. Think Uncharted Game, with swash buckling action and Spanish Gold hunting, mixed in with Jeffery Archer style writing from the Clifton series, and you have this adventure book! Chris Vance adds his own brand of humour to make it a more modern reading. Looking forward to the next 3 editions in the series

Dean Weaver 5-Star Review on Amazon

  • The writing is bold, wordy, and humorous, sometimes reaching the complexity of Dickens. Vance’s dialogue sparkles with wit, and the world-building, particularly the sprawling Theobalds estate and the Maiden Bride, feels cinematic.

Jeffrey Aitken 5-Star review on Goodreads

  • It's a fantastically written book that I couldn't put down, and I will definitely be reading the other books in the series!

Sabrina Volkert 5-Star review on Goodreads

  • A gripping yarn from first to last page! The voyages of the Maiden Bride look set to join the Dawn Treader as a staple of ocean and ship fantasy stories. Perhaps a Treasure Island for a new generation? The story keeps up a cracking pace, building our emotional attachment to the main characters. A really good read which at the end leaves you wanting to know more about the continuing adventures of William Hope.
